We are committed to promoting better eating habits by supporting organic farming and Clean Label actions!

Offering more natural products, respecting human health and environment: this is one of the challenges set by French dairy cooperative, Sodiaal, several years ago by offering, for instance, organic and Clean Label cheese products through its various operations, including Sodiaal Fromages Solutions!


But what are “organic” and “Clean Label”, these two trends that seem to be everywhere in supermarkets, in newspapers, on the internet, at food fairs, and which continue to inspire the people at Sodiaal Fromages Solutions to innovate and to satisfy consumers looking for healthy products?


Today, 73% of French households buy and consume organic food once a month. Of these, 13% consume it every day*!


The trend keeps on growing following Covid-19, since March 2020 lock-down, a period during which the lifestyle and eating habits of the French have undergone a real evolution towards a better quality of life (94.8% of French people say that being in good health is above all about eating well**). The result is a collective desire to prioritise food from organic farming and (if possible) short supply chains, while preserving animal welfare and proximity to small retail businesses!


Thanks to our French dairy cooperative Sodiaal, which supports its farmers daily and continues to support them in their conversion to organic farming, we can respond positively to this growing market demand for organic and French products.


Indeed, over the last 5 years, the cooperative’s organic collections have increased from 1 to 4%, which represents 9.7% of the farms, i.e. 765 farmers, in 2020! This increase is partly linked to the technological and financial support provided by the group to our farmers, who received a conversion support premium of €57 / 1000L in 2020.


Consequently, at Sodiaal Cheese Solutions, our Organic French Emmental (available in wheels, blocks, grated and other formats on request) is the result of the involvement of the whole of our Sodiaal dairy sector, combining tradition, know-how, terroir and innovation, and answering to consumers’ quest for healthy, natural and local products.



Clean Label comes from a need for reassurance about the origin, transparency and composition of products, as well as the desire to consume more natural products, that’s why the Clean Label is appearing on supermarket shelves. Indeed 83% of French people** attach importance to products without preservatives or additives.


Moreover, there was a 13.8% increase between 2019 and 2020** for “home-made” products, as it guarantees the traceability of ingredients used in recipes for French households, as well as “health food”, which are now among the main criteria for choice!


At Sodiaal, in anticipation of our customers’ requirements, we have been committed to the  “Clean Label” quality charter for more than 3 years.


This means that our producers have harnessed their cheese-making know-how to achieve greater naturalness, in order to provide certified products without additives or preservatives, such as our range of processed cheeses without melting salt dedicated to the food industry, which preserve all of their functionality and organoleptic qualities!


Ensuring better public health through food and protecting our planet have always been at the heart of our commitments.
